Catalysts are the main application field of PGMs, so waste catalysts have become the most important secondary resource type of PGMs. Compared with the average grade of PGMs in the original ore (about 0.4 g/t), waste catalysts have become important strategic materials due to their extremely high PGMs content (100~3000 g/t). However, the proportion of PGMs recovered in waste catalysts in my country is still less than 40%, and it is urgent to break through key processing technologies, improve the recycling level of PGMs waste catalysts, and reduce the loss of PGMs resources to overseas markets.
- Platinum group metal wet recovery technology: PGMs wet recycling refers to the use of chemical reagents to dissolve waste containing PGMs, convert PGMs into complex ion forms, and then complete the enrichment and purification of PGMs through ion exchange, extraction, precipitation, filtration and other processes; mainly divided into cyanidation, hydrochloric acid + oxidant and other process forms.
- PGM pyrometallurgical recycling technology: PGMs pyrometallurgical recycling refers to the use of base metal collectors such as Cu, Pb, Ni, and Fe under the action of flux and reducing agent, and then smelting PGMs into base metal melt to form alloys, and then the carrier and flux form slag and achieve directional enrichment of PGMs. At present, many well-known PGMs recycling companies abroad use pyrometallurgical technology, but the core technology and equipment are not disclosed.
